Surrounded by lush greenery and away from the urban hustle, The Gardens is still conveniently situated just a short distance from the town center, within easy reach of shops, public transport links, and the charm of Darlington's historic sites.
Our spacious bedrooms are ideal to enjoy privacy, while our communal spaces buzz with a variety of engaging activities designed to keep residents physically active, mentally stimulated, and socially connected.
From scenic walks in the nearby countryside to stimulating group activities, every aspect of life at The Gardens is crafted to promote the wellbeing of our Residents and help them flourish, creating a home-like atmosphere where everyone feels like family.

The Gardens Care Home features
Resident rooms
Our rooms are bright, spacious and modern, and come furnished with a single bed, plenty of storage space, and comfortable seating, as a standard.
All of our bedrooms benefit from ensuite toilet and sink facilities, with some enjoying extra amenities such wet rooms, walk-in wardrobes, or french doors with direct access to our beautiful private gardens.
Residents have access to TV and phone points in their own rooms, as well as wifi throughout the home.
Common areas
Our main Residential Care Home offers three warm and cosy conservatories, a homely dining room, and our very own hair dressing salon.
Residents can enjoy the fresh air from our peaceful inner courtyard, or take walks around our vast private gardens.
Our home is situated next to a large allotment and our team is happy to enquire on behalf of green-fingered Residents keen to have their own space to harvest plants.
The Blackwell Suite, our dedicated, nurse-led, specialist care unit is separate from our main Residential Care Home, but still within the premises of The Gardens.
Both The Gardens and the Blackwell Suite are one story, purpose-built units and fully wheelchair accesible.
Activities
Our Activity Coordinators prepare a monthly schedule of events for Residents, which may include:
Adapted exercising classes
Arts therapy and crafts
Singing and dancing
Board and chance games
Animal therapy
Parties, fairs and celebrations
Manicures and pamper sessions
Visits from local schools, volunteering groups and entertainers
Days out (weather permitting)
Food and drink
We operate a seasonal, 4-week rolling menu with plenty of options.
All our food is home cooked daily with fresh incredients by our in-house catering team.
Our chefs can cater for a wide range of dietary needs and preferences, including soft and altered textures, fortified, vegan, vegetarian, gluten and diary free, diabetic, low sodium, and cultural diets.
Visitors
Relatives are welcome at anytime, altough we kindly ask that you aim to visit outside of protected meal times, which are 12:00-14:00 and 16:30-17:45 pm.
We are a pet friendly home and welcome well trained pet visitors with a little advanced notice.

Meet the Team at The Gardens

Marie Nicholson
DEPUTY MANAGER
Marie started working at The Gardens as a Care Assistant in 1994.
In 2006, she was proudly promoted to Registered Manager, and held this position until 2022, when she decided to take a step back, assuming her current role of Deputy Manager.
She thoroughly enjoys herjob, and when she is not at work, she makes sure to spend time making wonderful moments with her family, specially her grandchildren.

Driving from the North:
From the A1(M), take the A68 exit to Corbridge/Darlington at junction 58.
At the Burtree Interchange roundabout, take the 1st exit onto West Auckland Rod/A68 and continue for 0.5 miles.
At the roundabouts, stay on West Auckland Rod/A68 by taking the 2nd exit and continuing for 0.6 miles, then taking the 2nd exit and continuing for 0.7 miles.
At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Woodland Road/A68 and continue for 0.2 miles.
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Stainwood Court/B6279, then take the 1st exit onto Carmel Road N/B6280 and continue for 1 mile.
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Coniscliffe Road/A67.
Driving from the South:
From the A1(M) follow the signs for Darlington/Teesside/Airport to take the exit towards A66(M) and continue for 2.2. miles.
At the At Blackwell Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Bridge Rod/A66 and continue for 0.7 miles.
At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Carmel Road South/A67 and continue for 0.7 miles.
At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Coniscliffe Road/A67.
Driving from either North or South:
Stay on the right at the fork on Coniscliff Road/A67 to continue onto Salutation Road.
Turn right on to Pondfield Close.
The Gardens will be on your right and on-street parking is available at the front and back of the home.
By Train:
The Gardens Care Home is approximately 2 miles from Darlington Railway Station.
