Springfield Manager presents at Digital Technology Event
Last week (Wednesday 12th February) saw Ascot Care present at a joint event by Durham County Council and the NHS, the event was to promote digital technology in the care sector. The aim of the event was to showcase how technology can improve care, and was hosted by Newcastle City Council, at the banqueting hall in the civic centre.
There were numerous workshops and presentations throughout the day and as part of the event, Springfield Lodge manager Helen Reeve was asked to present alongside Catherine McShane from health call and Sarah Douglas from Durham County Council, on their findings, from the recent health call pilot scheme, which we had be selected to trial at our care home in Durham.
The presentation was based on the findings of the recent pilot scheme, which was an initiative to reduce hospital admissions through digital recordings of vital observations, that could be sent directly to the district nurses and community matrons, who could then prioritise visits and manage hospital admissions.
Ascot Director Gareth Nesbit said “Helen being asked to present at this event is yet another example of her efforts to drive care standards up”.
“The scheme itself was a huge success which has since seen 50% of the local care providers sign up to health call, and has resulted in our own staff being trained in the observations and reading of vital signs, this not only upskills our staff but also helps us to improve care standards which is ultimately what we are trying to do”.
Abby Vella from the Care and Health Improvement Programme said “We had some very positive feedback from delegates at the event highlighting Helens session in particular and I would like to say a huge thank you to Helen and her team”.
Ascot care are very proud of the efforts by Helen and her team at Springfield lodge.
